The American Trucking Association (ATA) frequently cites ABF as a benchmark for safety, security and freight-handling standards. ABF is one of the safest trucking companies in the industry. The ATA awarded ABF the 2007 Excellence in Security Award. ABF has earned the Excellence in Security Award an unprecedented four times. In 2005, the ATA recognized ABF as the top freight carrier in both claims/loss prevention and security – this marks the 30th time since 1971 that ABF has earned recognition from the Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council.
ABF Equipment
ABF has one of the newest, best-maintained fleets on the road – 1,600 road tractors, 2,500 city tractors, and more than 17,000 trailers. Their three-year road tractor replacement cycle ensures that ABF continually has one of the youngest fleets in the industry. ABF also has the ReloCube® – a 6’D x 7’W x 8’H shipping and storage container specifically designed for U-Pack moves.
ABF Drivers
ABF employs 7,000 drivers. 2,647 of these drivers received the safe driving award for long-term, accident free driving (over one million accident-free miles or 15,000 accident free hours). ABF has many more drivers well on their way to achieving these awards; it takes a minimum of eight years driving on the road to achieve this honor.
