Both climates produce mild winters with rare snowfall and low temperatures well above freezing. Rainfall averages 16 inches annually in Los Angeles, compared to 12 inches in Tucson. 

Summers in LA are mild and warm, with highs around 84 degrees. This is much cooler than the hot summers in Tucson, which can exceed 100 degrees. Both cities have over 280 days of sunshine per year.

Tucson is known for stargazing, and so is Los Angeles, but the types of stars are different. In LA, you’re much more likely to see a movie star than a celestial one due to all the lights in the city. 

More celebrities live in Los Angeles than in any other city in the U.S., so you might see a famous person (or two) while running errands.  

While you’re out, don’t miss the Hollywood Walk of Fame stars. The landmark consists of almost 2,800 stars, each containing the name of a significant entertainment industry achiever. 

Employment opportunities in Los Angeles 

The cost of living in LA is higher than in Tucson, but there are also more employment opportunities in the larger city. 

Many residents work in entertainment and hospitality, but there are other key industries as well. Bioscience, information technology, logistics, and trade also play key roles in LA’s economy.
